Military were protecting the cargo ships for importing and exporting goods. They were always on the look for the notorious Pirates at sea who earned their living intercepting cargo ships and either selling, trading, or keeping the goods and money. Lives were at risk from battles, ocean storms, illness, and lost or shipwrecked causes. Quite an adventure to live in that time, play chess in an intriguing atmosphere.
