He began playing correspondence chess (ie, through the mail) in 1986." He has the highest correspondence chess rating in APCT (American Postal Chess Tournaments) history. Jon is involved with the ICCF (International Correspondence Chess Federation) and the North American Invitational Correspondence Chess Championship. As of October 2009, ICCF ranks Jon Edwards as 9th in player ranks.
